Boston, MA – 25 March 2011.  Mavel Americas, Inc. (“Mavel”) announced the award of contracts for the supply of equipment for two new hydroelectric power projects on the Piedra River in the Chiriqui Province of Panama. These projects, about 500 kilometers west of Panama City, are designed as run-of-river facilities. Each new power plant will utilize two Mavel horizontal Francis turbines type FSH1050 and have total installed power of 10 MW.

Boston, MA – 25 March 2011.  Northern Illinois Hydropower LLC (“NIH”) and Mavel Americas, Inc. (“Mavel”) announced the signing of supply contracts for turbines and related technology for the proposed Brandon Road and Dresden Island Hydroelectric Power projects (“Brandon Road HPP” and “Dresden Island HPP”).   Both projects are located on Army Corp of Engineering Lock and Dam sites near Jolliet, Illinois and will utilize Mavel’s low head Kaplan technology.

Boston, MA – 18 March 2011.  Mavel Americas, Inc. announced the commissioning of its first turbine in the USA at Unit 1 of Holyoke Gas & Electric’s Boatlock Hydroelectric Station (“Boatlock Station”).

Holyoke Gas & Electric (“HG&E”) owns and operates 32 hydroelectric power plants through a canal system in Holyoke, MA. The Boatlock Station is situated adjacent to the Hadley Dam and has three generating units. In late 2008, HG&E solicited proposals for the replacement of the Unit 1 generating unit.
